Workshop: Decision-making processes in international business strategies


The 1st workshop on “Decision-making processes in international business strategies” will be hosted by the University of Bucharest., as a part of the 4th International Conference in Economics and Administration, ICEA 2012.

The workshop invites conceptual and empirical papers in the field of strategic decision-making process for the internationalization of companies. Workshop papers by senior and junior scholars as well as PhD students can be submitted. The accepted papers will be divided into two or more specific tracks based on their common themes. The tracks will be chaired by Professor Fabio Musso.
 
The purpose of this workshop is to offer a wide and interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of strategic decision-making processes in international businesses. New theoretical and empirical research, including methodologically rigorous case studies, are welcome. Paper that can link the following topics will receive top priority:
·         The impact of national culture on international strategic decision making process SDMPs
·         Psychological factors influencing international SDMPs.
·         Top management team (TMT) characteristics (e.g. international experience, nationality, skills), firm characteristics (e.g. size and performance) and the process of making strategic decisions in international field;
·         Internationalization choices within firm's organization.
·         The impact of different SDMPs’ dimensions/aspects (e.g. comprehensiveness/ rationality, centralization, formalization/standardization, business/product internationalisation, the segmentation of related markets; business/product positioning) and SMEs internationalization;
·         Corporate Social Responsibility and its influence on international SDMPs;
·         the use of ICTs, especially those Internet-related, and their impact on international strategic decisions;
·         the impact of geographic and psychic distances on international markets selection (IMS) and entry mode selection (EMS) ;
·         factors influencing changes in international SMEs’ strategic decision-making processes;
 
 PROCEDURES FOR SELECTING PAPERS AND PARTICIPANTS:
The deadline for the submission of full papers is 1st of May 2012 2:00 p.m. Brussels time.
It is possible to submit more than one paper, but only one can be accepted as first author.
Submitted papers must not have been previously presented, published, accepted for publication, and if under review, must not appear in print before workshop.
In case of acceptance, the author or one of the co-authors should be available to present the paper at the conference.
The entire paper (title page, abstract, main text, figures, tables, references, etc.) must be send in one document in PDF format. To facilitate the blind review process, author and institutional identifying information must be remove from the text and send in a separate file.
The maximum length of the paper is 8,000 words (including all tables, appendices and references).
Papers should be:
  • Single spaced throughout;
  • A4 size page formatting;
  • 2.5cm margins on all sides;
  • Title: centred, bold and times new roman 14-point font;
  • Abstract: left justified, bold and times new roman 12-point font maximum 150 words;
  • Keywords: from 5 to 10, left justified, regular, italic and times new roman 12-point font;
  • Main body of the paper:
1. Major headings: should be numbered sequentially, left justified and bolded;
1.1 Sub-headings: should be numbered according to the main heading, left justified, regular and in italics;
  • Tables and figures: integrated within the text;
  • Footnotes: at the bottom of the page should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively throughout the text with superscript Arabic numerals.
  • References: must follow APA (American Psychological Association) style.
